WordPress theme “twenty-eleven” now available

In early October we added a new WordPress theme to the WordPress admin menu options. This theme adds several user configurable options that were not available with the basic themes that we have offered in the past.

With the new theme you are able to upload your own header image, modify (or remove) header text, add a background image or color, switch between a light and dark format for the content, choose which side the page sidebars appear on, and the theme also provides a widgetized footer area so you can place content at the bottom of your pages.

The theme is based on the Twenty Eleven theme released by WordPress. You can visit their twenty eleven page regarding theme options to get more info. Some features they list may not be available within our system.

How to embed an image within an email

To embed an image within your Homequest email it first must be on the web in order to upload it. If you have a WordPress admin page, you can simply click on the Media tab and upload an image. Once you’ve
uploaded it, simply go to the edit tab of that image, and copy the URL.

Then, go to your Homequest email, and click the icon add an image. You can resize the image if need be. Once you have done that, simply save the template.

September 2011 updates

As of Sept 15th HomeQuest had a release party with an updated version of the software. Some of the changes we introduced include: another theme option for your WordPress site, most viewed listings for your client, and a client campaign creator.

Print issues with the Market Analyzer

Some users have reported issues when attempting to print the market analyzer reports that can be created from the looking glass. (see how to video)

Issues reported vary from incomplete printing of the graphs to print jobs not reaching the printer. We found that the issue is related to recent releases of the flash player software that is required to display the graphs and data.

We found that the issue does not exist with older versions of the flash player. Here are steps to downgrade your flash player if necessary.

1. Uninstall your current version by following these directions from adobe.

2. If you are using Firefox on Windows you can CLICK HERE to download a slightly older version of the flash player software that will work.

If you are using Internet Explorer CLICK HERE to download the correct older version for IE.

Follow the prompts to install the player. You may have to restart your web browser after installation.

The issue appears to be affecting other products as well. At this time we do not have a solution other than to downgrade the flash player version.

Commenting is now available

All WordPress hosted sites with HomeQuest now have commenting capabilities turned on. That means that clients can now interact with your blog posts. Now your blog is not just a one way form of communication, but an actual community where users can respond to your blog posts and each others comments. Having an engaged community brings benefit within the search engine rankings as well.

Saved Searches

Clients can search for listings on your website map, as well as save their own searches. A saved search remembers the areas, the filter, and other options that you have set will be remembered. When you sign up for a Saved Search, you are also given the option to have automatic timed email updates come to your email.

Save as many searches as you like. Come back to the site to view them anytime, or let the email updates come to you.

Share listings with a quick link

The HomeQuest IDX allows you to create a quick link that can be placed anywhere on the internet. Pull up a list of homes, filter it down to the perfect match for your client, then place it in an email, or a Facebook message. Anyone who clicks the link will be taken right to the screen you created showing the section of map you chose, with the same listings, and the same blog posts.

This can be used for you to send listings to others, or your clients can use this to send listings to their friends. It’s the easiest way for your clients to refer you to others.

WordPress IDX Plugin Requirements

The WordPress IDX Plugin requires:

WordPress 2.7 or higher (there have been some issues reported with 3.2)
PHP5 (currently only versions prior to 5.3)
An active HomeQuest subscription

Importing Contacts into HomeQuest

HomeQuest support can upload your a CSV/Excel formatted file into your HomeQuest account. That means that if you have your contacts stored in Outlook or another contact management/address book program that can export to CSV you can save yourself time and effort of entering your contacts. Email HomeQuest Support your CSV file and let us know that you would like it uploaded to your account. We will clean the data and get it into your Contact List generally within one business day.

Remember, clients can also sign themselves up quickly and easily on your HomeQuest IDX site.
