The WordPress Media Library lets you take a look at all of the photos that have been uploaded into your WordPress website. This includes the photos that you have inserted into blog posts and pages. You can also upload photos into the Media Library for use later. For example, the Simple Image Link widget requires a photo URL. That means that the photo has to already be somewhere on the internet ready to use. By uploading a photo into the Media Libary, you make it available on your website and you can easily copy the URL for use in the Simple Image Link widget and elsewhere. You can also delete media from your site here, but it is very important to note that the images will disappear from your site including any pages or blog posts that you used them in.
Step 1. In your WordPress Site Admin tool, click “Library” under the “Media” menu
Step 2. From the Media Libary you can click the “Add New” button to upload a new photo, or click an existing photo to see its information
Step 3. Click “Select Files” and choose the image(s) that you want to upload from your computer.
Step 4. The details of the image you uploaded appear. Copy the “File URL” to use the image in a place like the Simple Image Link widget.
If you do not add the File URL somewhere, this image will be uploaded to your site but not visible anywhere.
